Authors Note- This is a conflict and
resolution piece on the books "My Sweet Memories" by Rebecca Muckers
and the book "Run baby Run" by Tasha Trevor’s.
It’s amazing how you will have
something one day and loose it the next. Rebecca Muckers – knows this all too
well. She is a character from the book “My Sweet Memories “ by Ronda
Rojoreson. Rebecca know that when you
are in the wrong place at the wrong time , you life can fade and even memories
will change. Rebecca was kidnapped at
the age of 15, escaped at age 20. Coming back to her house she didn’t even feel
safe. She has a conflict towards
herself, not even being comfortable in her own skin. This is the conflict for
the book.
One of the reasons this is a self
vs. self conflict is because she starts
to make up things in her mind. Things that are bad and not good for her to think. She thinks that
there are people after her, looking for her. Because of this she feels like she is almost living a
nightmare. Another reason is because her
own parent don’t care for her. They aren’t there to comfort her when she is
down in the dumps. That is why is it a
self vs. self conflict. The message you have can make a difference.
While the conflict in the book is
very drastic, there is a even stronger message that goes along with the
resolution. The story was resolved when the men that took her before came back
for her. She escaped their grasp and stood up for herself. What makes things neat is when Rodney- Her old best friend that had no idea
finds where she had been and takes her in. This resolves the story, she is no longer alone. Overall the message of the story is to “never
judge someone , you don’t know what they have been through.” There are books
out there that are very close to the plot of the other book.
Another book is “Run baby Run” by Tesha Trevers . The story line is almost
the same but the main character is Garret , a boy. We all know that this book is a self vs. self
conflict. He is judged by the way he walks , talks and sometimes even the way
he stands. This book relates to “My Sweet Memories” due to the fact they are judged unfairly.
Don’t judge someone if you don’t know their journey in life.
